Fittings and CNC Pipe Threading

The most common piping are tees, elbows, unions, reducers, crosses, couplings, plugs, swage nipples, adapters, bushings, valves, flanges, and outlets.  These fluid and gas control components can change the direction of or stop flow, restrict flow to increase pressure or expand flow to reduce pressure, or simply connect different components
through coupling to accomplish one or more of the aforementioned. It is important to note that KJ specializes in machined from bar per print parts in this product category (not off the shelf plumbing components). Our products are common in applications such as marine, food rendering, gas and oil, power generation, pipelines, fire sprinkler systems, and many other O.E.M. requirements.

Popular Types of Fittings and their Applications

Bushings

Pipe bushings join pipes of varied sizes – usually by reducing a larger pipe fitting down to a smaller line. There is increased leverage using a wrench with the hexagonal head. Bushings can be threaded outside and inside; or unthreaded. Compared to a union or coupling, they use less space, achieving the same goal of reducing downsizing.

Elbows

Socket or threaded weld pipe elbows are used to change the direction of flow. Most popular: 90- and 45-degree angles elbows. Street elbows have female and male threaded ends to connect differing pipes or fittings easily.

Caps

Fitting over the male end, the cap stops the flow. Square and hexagonal heads increase leverage in disassembly and installation. Some combine two tees; a cross pipe is a fitting with four-way fittings.

Pipe Flanges

Used to connect pipes, flanges are welded or threaded to the pipe and then bolts are used to seal the connection. Flanges are used heavily where there are high pressures in
industry. Although we have machined from bar several types of flanges, often they are casted.

Reducing Couplings and Reducers

When the pipe needs to be lengthened or a size change is needed, pipe couplings are used. When reduced, this becomes known as a reducer.

Pipe Nipples

A pipe nipple is a short pipe stub with a male pipe thread at one or both ends. Their purpose is to connect valves, hoses, and pipes and are used in pipe systems with low-pressure.

Fittings Applications and Categories

Applications of piping is expanding, their strength, flexibility, excellent flow rates, and high chemical resistance are uniquely suited for moving or transferring various compounds (such as steam, solids, liquids, or air) from one place to another.

Other functions and uses can be the transfer of highly hazardous materials such as waste and chemicals, protect sensitive equipment from high pressure, moderate extreme weather or corrosive conditions, and resistance to hazardous industrial chemicals.

Pipe fittings include various products in various shapes, sizes, and materials. Different new products are manufactured with rapid developments in industrial fittings and continuous research work in this industry. Some fittings have certain unique features that can be fabricated on different principles like hydraulics, and pneumatic, depending on the end user.
